About
This page exists, primarily, as an outlet for frustration. Be it your job that sucks, or your love life, your financial situation or your weekends. If you hate politics in this country as much as I do, join me in proclaiming its failures.
But don’t assume that everything here is necessarily gloomy. The best part about being a committed pessimist is that occasional fleeting moment in which everything goes… right. Within this moment you find yourself realizing that, ultimately, your shitty Silicon Valley job isn’t that bad. Those moments are shared here, too.
The key is to prolong those fleeting moments for as long as possible or try to make them happen more frequently. I find that the easiest way to do that is to rip on everything mercilessly.

I definitely hate politics in this country as much as you do. I hate how just when you think there’s a possibility that something good, or even great might happen, the opposing forces decide to do everything within their power to keep that good or great thing from happening…. I hate that I can’t get a job in the field for which I have a degree just because I had to stay home and take care of my kids for awhile (okay, for a long while, but my son has autism for chrissake….) I hate that I have to live in this hell hole of a town and listen to southern drawls and back-stabbing southern bells and bigots and homophobes and have to see camouflage clothing, coats, accessories every day and not even be able to buy liquor at the grocery store to help ease the pain….
Okay, so this is helping a little, maybe.

Well, well, well! This is truly a fantastic blog to read! Not continually political, but about life in general! All aspects! I read this in passing a couple of months ago and found that there was A LOT of things that I related to…especially that moving episode! Whew! My favorites…the move, plane ride, first day at school and OMG, the Tragedy! I had to call a friend to read it to them! Your humor is very honest, dry and sneaks up on you! LUV IT! Please write more!

Hello NN,
First, I freely admit to finding your website via your illustrious sibling’s page. However, that does not detract from the fact I find your writing wickedly funny, brilliant and subversive…but in a good way. Your family dinners must be a hoot! Keep the poisonous pen pumping!!

I enjoy reading your blog, especially your political critiques. Your words always put a sardonic smile on my face. Reciprocation is good: Jack Bauer’s (Keifer Sutherland’s) real grandfather is considered our greatest Canadian hero. Tommy Douglas ran the first socialist government in North America (before and during the McCarthy years) and created publicly-funded, universal health care. Even our most Conservative (Capital C) conservatives ardently support and value our medicare now, after almost 50 years in existence. I wonder if there are any Republicans who can see the ironic humour in that? I’m just saying….

Thank God you fixed your website. How many months has it been? 5? 6? Are you still teaching? I don’t want to be your friend. Please don’t search for me on Facebook.

Neil, what do you do for a living? What are your ambitions?
January 9, 2010 - 2:27 pm
You remind me why I loved writing in the first place and why I took journalism back in highschool. I loved bieng cynical and just so damn honest about my views on life in general. I wish I had made a career of what I enjoyed doing most but that’s another story. In a way you kinda inspire me to write about my rants and everyday bullshit I call people out on or my own again. You never who’s writing or style will inspire you again. Thanks…

FINALLY up again! Gave me 20 minutes of unalloyed pleasure to read, especially your response to “The Adam Lambert Problem”. Exactly correct…focus the masses on something absolutely inconsequental, link that to every horrific happening that no one wants to really consider, and sit back and continue to rake in the bribes and kickbacks.
January 27, 2010 - 9:48 pm
Woah. Thats cool I want one
now i bet you want to read :l Okay. well ima bring you up to date Bradam, Atommy Lambiff, and Kradam Theres others to but thoese are the main. Anyways, really tis was not what i wanted to write to you. I wanted to write that I may of found your blog because I was youtubeing your brother and he talked about your blogging but now that i read your blog it has noothing to do with you being a lambert its just…. INTRESTING. Your talented, ever thought of taking up writing?
Have you ever realized (Or ever read) Any random s storys of your brother and kris allen being togeather? Ahahahhaha. (Sorry, i found it really funny) Hey,there not all sex stories and Guess what YOUR IN SOME! Maybe you and adam go to school togeather or live togeather but your in some
January 31, 2010 - 11:54 pm
Ahaha. I decided if i read fan fic with you in it Ill send it 2 u AHA.
“Man up, you pussy,” Neil says when Adam calls him, which is completely unhelpful, but it would be in totally bad taste to call Drake for advice and calling Brad for tips on how to kiss someone the way they used to is just— no.
“No really, I can’t believe you’re complaining that you’re getting regular head,” Neil continues, “how the fuck are we even related? What the fuck kind of rock star are you anyway? I don’t-” Adam hangs up on him. He’ll pay for that, he knows. Neil uses a lot of his creative energy to come up with inventive ways of getting back at people.
ahahha

Thanks for sharing your views on politics, issues and stories about crappy jobs, situations and crappy people who mess up your life and crazy Adam Lambert fans who hound you on Facebook.
I enjoyed reading your tirades. I really did.
You know why? Because :
MY LIFE SUCKS
too.

I found this blog posted on YouTube thinking it would be something silly in the market of Adam Lambert worshipping. Imagine my surprise when I began to read and suddenly a smile, not the usual nod in feigned appreciation, but a real smile came onto my face. I am a huge fan of sarcasm and making light of things that ought to be left on their(usually) undeserved pedastals. Thank you Neil for giving me some hope that todays young people are not all playing x-box live 22 hours a day.
February 9, 2010 - 7:45 pm
So I must admit that I found out about this website from an article I read about Adam and decided to see what it was about. (I’m not a crazy fan so I didn’t know he even had a brother).
I must say I’m pleasantly surprised! I myself am a very sarcastic person, and I often thought about blogging about my day to day thoughts. I appreciate this blog. I find your negativity realistic, and refreshing.
Good job and please don’t stop writing.
P.S. I often wondered the same thing about the weight rule for bags on airlines.

Since this is a page just to rant……well my thought for the day…..really is Toyota that bad…or is something else going on?
March 17, 2010 - 9:56 pm
Dear Neil
there is a nasty predicament for a (small) group of your brother’s fans (wait before binning this, listen), a sad unnatural condition, painful at times, that perhaps you can do something about: it is the sad lot of the politically-minded glamberts !!! I’m not sure how many of us there are, maybe 2 (me and you) maybe more… Assuming there are more than 2, then the matter is not totally inconsequential. You see, I used to spend my googling time avidly following obama’s presidential campaign and feeling excited about peace and progress for the world, but now, after all the disappointment we have been exposed to over the last few months, the changes we can hardly believe in any longer, at this point, though I still read truthout and follow the news, anyway, it is getting so awfully disheartening, depression was lurking, was pouncing on me, actually, until I stumbled upon your brother one day and there was a new marvelous something, actually someone, to root for and feel excited about. Politics make me blue, adam makes me happy, I figured, something about him was irresistible, made me think the universe was not that bad after all… BUT now this life enhancing effect is beginning to wear out, especially what he has been up to in Japan, maybe the language barrier, it all seems so superficial, how can you go to Japan and not go, say, to Hiroshima and pay homage to the mound of the atomic bomb victims? I wrote to the planet fierce people asking them to suggest that he does something like this, but of course got no reply and doubt very much they’ll tell him. And his fans’ comments are getting stupider by the day, like “OMG his butt!” or “OMG hawt!” It’s painful, very painful for me to sit and watch my newfound source of inspiration wane and do nothing… In short, this is what I’m asking you: please help me reconcile my political mindset with my passion for adam; needless to say I appreciated his support for young people who need to be helped out of the closet and his fund raising for donors choose, but now I want something more. Another idea could be a statement in favour of cruelty-free cosmetics. Or he could drop a hint about the cruetly perpetrated on gaza and west bank people by saying he does not like walls when he goes to Berlin… Though he claims he does not want to be a “poster boy” I think that when you have so many young people taking in your every word, there is an opportunity to stir people’s conscience that should not go wasted, especially in this day and age when there is so little hope to go around and a new ugly breed of fascism seems to be spreading like a bush fire… and if you can do anything to help me in this predicament I’ll appreciate it greatly and will go on reading your blog, which I enjoy, really. Fondly, Nicki
March 21, 2010 - 5:58 am
Dear Neil, this is Nicki again to say that: 1) soon after posting my comment I read about Adam’s initiative to raise funds for Amnesty and it really gave a lift to my spirit, 2) The Planet Fierce people actually replied to my letter, they are much more open minded than the official site and willing to humour any adam fan, no matter how crazy… 3) I still think that at least one of my suggestions, the one about cruelty free cosmetics is worth passing on. Besos from Spain !

Hi Neil,
Do you have an e-mail where I could forward you something? I have a very interesting e-mail a friend sent with some old ads that actually ran back in those idyllic days that Peggy Noonan was waxing poetic on. She should see these! Anyway let me know where to forward it and I will. BTW love your sarcastic sense of humor, you would fit in with my friends perfectly!

You are endlessly hilarious and quite informative. I love that you always have something to say on current events, domestic or not.
So when are you going to write a book or something? You should definitely make that happen.
Oh, how is learning the piano coming along? Will you and Adam make music together? I honestly haven’t figured out if I’m a bigger fan of yours or your brother’s, but if you ever make an album I’ll be sure to buy yours too =]

I’m ashamed to admit that I only found your blog through your sibling’s page and I know you probably don’t want to hear about him. My mother even (much to my embarrassment) told you that you were “FABULOUS” at the July 28th, Costa Mesa concert (as if you would even remember). I apologize if that scared you; she’s just a teenager trapped in a middle-aged woman’s body where I am completely the opposite. I have to say, though, that the only reason I’ve STAYED on this blog and kept reading it is because of you. I’m a pessimist as well and I enjoy hearing from someone who shares my views on a lot of things. Plus, you’re an amazing writer and, seeing as I also have a passion for arranging words into sentences, I can appreciate your ability to just completely capture my attention and HOLD it, which is something that I’ve probably failed to do. But I digress.
To keep it short, sweet, and to-the-point:
KEEP WRITING! YOU’RE AWESOME!
